apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com error message

I was going crazy when I could not email from my ipad. I could receive email. I was getting a failed message. I could not find a solution any place on the net.

This how I resolved it. Yahoo now requires an “app password”. so go to yahoo security for your account and follow the instructions for creating an app password for your ipad, iphone, etc.

I did these and how it works!

Yahoo mail on Apple email app is appalling I have had a Yahoo email account for years and i have had several Apple devices for years. I have always had trouble retrieving my Yahoo email through the apple email app. These two organisations and apps/services just do not work well together. I have mails i receive instantly on the Yahoo app, which takes several minutes to come through on apple email app. Also emails take an age to refresh/download on the apple email app but instantly on the yahoo app. It’s been going on for years. Why? I’m fed up trawling through these forums for solutions and being told to check my settings and try all sorts of resets and bizarre instructions. Any one know what the real issue is and what the permanent solution is?
