Apple Contacts unstable

When I try creating a new contact, the info I typed will suddenly disappear or it will switch to a different contact. Also, even if I type the contact name quickly and save it, the record will not actually save. I have about a 1 in 5 success rate at successfully creating a new contact. Very frustrating.

I think I fixed it by going into Contacts Preferences and changing default account from Google to iCloud.
