Ipad 2

Dear Sir/Madam,

I know my iPad 2 is old but it is still good. My question is why can I not upgrade to IOS 10 . I can only go as far as IOS 9.3.5. I figure if it is still good and works , I can keep it. Some of apps which is very important to me is saying it is not compatible with this iPad anymore , it is shame . I believe in recycling. So if you have any idea on how to make it work, I really appreciate it. thank you and have a great day.

Update Hi, i have a very old Ipad air, and still running on iOS 9.3.1.. The issue is that i need to download new apps and update some others for my job, but my Ipad won´t update to the next iOS 10.2. I´ve already cheked and have enough space for the update. Is there a solution or my Ipad is simply useless now? thanks!
