Downloading iPhoto images directly to a Hard Drive

I have a student who uses Adobe software to optimize images taken on her iPhone. Currently, they go directly in the Photo app. She wants them on the Hard Drive so she can open them in Adobe Camera Raw. How can she do this direct download?

She can also use the Preview.app, if she connects the iPhone to a USB port of her Mac.

Preview has the command "File > Import from <the name of her iPhone>"

From Preview she can save the photos to folders on her Mac.
