Can proxies be created in library storage location while NOT copying original files?

Hello!

From the import dialogue, if I choose "Create Proxy Media" and "Leave Files In Place", will the proxies be placed in the same folder as the original media, or will the proxies go to the library storage location?

What I want is to leave the original media in place and create the proxies in the library storage location. How can I achieve this?

Thanks!

Thanks, Tom.

If the source media is in a format FCPX can't read and therefore the option to leave it in place is grayed out, what will happen if I have "Create Proxies" selected but not "Create Optimized Media"?

Will FCPX copy the original media to the library storage location AND create the proxies, or just create the proxies?

The reason I'm asking is because my library storage location doesn't have enough space for the original media.
