I'm going to assume you mean a Macbook. This link provides what should have been done on the Macbook before you got it: What to do before you sell or give away your Mac - Apple Support

If these things weren't done, you need to have the previous owner do this or you'll not be able to sign into the Macbook with your ID.

Apple makes quite a few products, but "matchbook" is not one of them.

It's difficult to even guess what product you might mean.
