IPad Air Apple files will not open

IPad Air 2 ios 11.2.6

i have been using the Apple Files app in iCloud extensively and until today no problems.

now when I tap the app to open it blinks and if I double click home button it shows open but cannot view. Also cannot access any other files in iCloud. Have restarted iPad by holding down power and home button twice and 3rd time restarted from settings. Amy ideas?

Hi tosmith784608,

I understand that you're having trouble using the Files app and opening files that are stored in iCloud Drive on your iPad Air 2. I know using iCloud Drive and the Files app is important; I'm happy to help. First I would suggest checking that you're successfully logged into iCloud from Settings > Your Name > iCloud, you can also check that iCloud Drive is enabled here as well.

If you're logged in and iCloud Drive is enabled I'd suggest that you create a current backup to ensure any files that may be saved outside of iCloud Drive are preserved: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

The reason I suggest this is because I'd like you to remove the Files app from your iPad and restore it using the steps below. Removing the Files app will also delete its data, but any documents or data stored in iCloud will not be deleted.

Delete a built-in app from your device

  1. On your iOS device, touch and hold the app lightly until it jiggles. If the app doesn't jiggle, make sure that you're not pressing too hard.
  2. Tap on the app, then tap Delete.
  3. Press the Home button to finish.

If you have an Apple Watch, deleting an app from your iPhone also deletes that app from your Apple Watch.

User uploaded file

Restore a built-in app that you deleted

  1. On your iOS device, go to the App Store.
  2. Search for the app. Make sure that you use the exact name of the app. Find the correct name of built-in apps.
  3. Tap User uploaded file to restore the app.
  4. Wait for the app to restore, then open it from your Home screen.

If you have an Apple Watch, restoring an app to your iPhone also restores that app to your Apple Watch.

Delete built-in Apple apps on your iOS 11 device or Apple Watch

Let me know what you find.

Best Regards.
