My iMac(late 2012) wont boot from usb after hard drive change

I recently purchased a late 2012 iMac and it had a new hard drive in it that was wiped. It will not let me boot from a usb I created for high sierra and internet recovery finishes but goes straight to a white screen. How can I get a os installed?

At this point attempting to install High Sierra on the Firewire 800 drive unless I can get USB boot to work.

no disk popping up when in disk utilities (internet recovery) How can I boot into the computer when i can't install a mac os to my iMac (2011) due to there being no hard drive available. No hard drive appeares on disk utilities either. The only thing that pops up is disk0 and super drive.

Imac start up disk I am unable to boot up my iMac 2012. Disk utility shows that I have an Apple disk image with mac os base system. There is no mac os HDD showing. Unable to use erase or restore on disk utility. I have tried internet recovery but still unable to boot up iMac. Please advise. Thanks
