And for that matter, when you go to your printer, why cant you set preferences by printer? Sure you can use Last used settings, but thats not the same. Preferences should be stored for all devices, scanners and printers.

One reason would be you may be printing or scanning different sized documents. However, even if you never do, if you always scan or print using the same settings, the "last used" settings would be correct.
Yes, a Last Used for Scanning would be most excellent. Wonder why no one has thought of it. 😉
Perhaps because someone may want to scan different sized documents. Or, if they have multiple documents to scan they may scan them all at once.
Otherwise, it's a mystery.
