Question: How can I download vinyl records into iTunes using GarageBand?

I'm trying to use a turntable with a USB port to download my vinyl records into iTunes. I understand there is a way to do it using GarageBand but I'm not having any luck finding the way to do it. Any help would be appreciated or a point in the right direction. Thanks.

since your records aren't digital, you can't "download" them, but you can record them.


if your turntable is Mac Compatible, open GB's prefs, and in the Audio Midi tab, select your turntable from the Input PopUp menu.


create an Audio Track, click the record button, and play your album


when you're done you turn on the cycle region button:

stretch the bar to encompass each song, one at a time:

and then use the Share menu to export the Song to iTunes making sure to export only the Cycle area:
