Whenever I type my word password into my ipad, it continuously disables

I’ve recently had a problem in which my ipad continuously disables after I’ve entered the correct password into my ipad. I use touch id so I cannot use that to unlock my ipad. I’ve tried around 5 times and each time the disabling time icreases. Now its at a 2 hour disable. I use IOS 11.2.6 and this hasnt happened before. The odd thing is also that I am not connected to wifi, when i previously was. Help would be appreciated
