Creating Multicam video from 360 camera

I'm using the GoPro Fusion 360 when doing interviews. I've been exporting entire clips out of FCPX with different camera views, and then importing those .mov files back into the project, and setting up a Multicam project. The extra step of exporting is time consuming. What am I missing? Feels like there should be a way to create snapshots of a video that I can then use in a Multicam project, but none of the tricks I've tried work. Thoughts? Recommendations?

I never tried the following but it may work. No guarantees of course.

Try this with two instances and if it works you can make more.

Make two different compound clips each containing your clip and do the edits in the compounds. Then use the compounds to make the multicam.

It seems as though when you create compound 2D clip with 360 video, it changes the camera angle from the source file so when I create a new compound clip, change the angle, it'll make the changes to the original 360 video. Strange, because you'd think that this would work, but I think I'm using the tech a bit outside it's original purpose.
