How to recover old photos from icloud
When i upgraded to iphonex my photos from my last two iphones did not upload to my new device

If the photos were included in your backup, then I'm not why they wouldn't transfer over (unless you were using iCloud Photo Library). If you were using iCloud Photo Library, then the photos are not included in your backup anyway. Simply log into iCloud on your new device and they should be there,. See Note 1 in:

I suggest, in the future, that you regularly archive your photos to a computer and then copy them to a safe place (like a thumb drive):

By any chance have you made any backups of your device using iTunes on your computer?
