Question: How to unpaid iPad from iphone

i recently got an iphone 8. It somehow paired itself with an older gen iPad mini and I would like to stop it. I don't want pics shared between both devices and I don't like getting phone messages and calls on my my iPad. How I do stop this?

iPhone 8, iOS 11.2.6

If you are using the same AppleID on both then that is standard behavior. iCloud puts everything on all devices with that ID. You can disable certain features for iCloud in settings but I don't know if you'll still be able to get messages if you do that. The other thing would be to make a separate AppleID for one device but that can create problems with things such as purchases since each ID is seen as a different person.

You don't need a separate Apple ID, and should not have separate Apple IDs for iOs devices you own. That's just going to complicate things.

You can turn off sharing settings in different places depending on what is shared.

For Calls for instance, you can on tour iPhone go to Settings->Phone->Calls on other Devices , and turn of the iPad.

Settings->Messages->Text Message Forwarding and agai turn off the iPad.

For Photos, go to Settings->Account(top of settings)->iCloud->Photos and turn off what you don't want to be sharing.
