Dead USB C port on a new macbook?

My brand new MacBook came in a week ago, I used it for a week straight, and after being a little skeptical of buying a new MacBook when my 2012 was still running as strong as ever, I am completely sold on it and I cannot get enough of it, but it stopped charging yesterday afternoon.

I called apple support to resolve my issue and I have never dealt with this high of a level of incompetency. It started with the greeting, when she asked me how to pronounce “Sebastian”, it’s not that unusual of a name, the support agent was either an American, or has lived here a long enough time not to have an accent. It continued later in the call, where her tone drove absolute doubt that this issue would be ever be resolved. She also asked if the battery status indicator lights were lighting up, I asked her if she was looking at the correct macbook, and not my 2012 because there are no battery status indicator lights on the new macbook, she reassured me she was.

When she tried troubleshooting my laptop and we went through the Restart and Option D procedure and the results wouldn’t come up twice she told me she had no idea why it wasn’t working and asked me what I wanted to do. What I wanted to do? I thought I called her for support and not the other way around. I told her I want to get down to the bottom of the issue because I am leaving for work in 2 days and I cannot this laptop not working when I’m on the other side of the country trying to work off of this laptop. She told me I could go into the store where they could troubleshoot it, I told her I scheduled an appointment for the next day at 5:45PM, but I wanted to get down to the bottom of this issue tonight so that I can prepare accordingly for my trip. She then restarted her laptop, we did the Option D troubleshooting step again, it didn’t work and she left to talk to her senior advisor.

When she came back, I told her that I noticed that it started charging again but I need to get down to the bottom of this issue because I cannot have this uncertainty when I’m leaving the state in 2 days and will need to work off this computer, she instructed me to proceed with shift, control option and power button procedure. Which we did and the computer started up, then we went through the option d procedure, the computer started up, I started writing this feedback for you, the option d procedure finished, I didn’t hear back from her how the results looked, but she did ask if “the computer was charging better?” How can it charge better? I told her I wasn’t unsure if it was charging better, but it was charging and I still wanted to know why it wouldn’t charge. So I spent 15 minutes in silence, when she came back and told me that the shift, control, option and power button procedure we did had something to do with the system management controller which is responsible for the battery charging, display green battery charge level, which I have no idea what she is talking about because there are none of the new macbooks.. and she told me my computer shouldn’t run slow, which it didn’t, the battery just wasn’t charging.

Then she told me that it should run fine and charge without a problem. This call took 52 minutes, and I’m honestly left speechless after dealing with that support agent, I never in my life would have thought a person representing Apple could be so incompetent. So I called apple support again, reached another support person when I noticed that one of my ports wasn't charging, she instructed me that it's definitely not software related and that I should bring my charger when I go into the store tomorrow.

With further testing I realized that only the back left USB C port isn't working, and the cable only charges the computer one way, it can't be plugged in the other way around, and this morning when I came back to my macbook the battery discharged itself, last night it had about 75% battery left when I shut the lid, this morning it was completely discharged.

Wonder if anyone else has experienced this?
