"your computer is disabled. try again in xx minutes"

Mom's 21.5" iMac. Three years old. She passed away two years ago and I haven't started her computer since. Now just fired it up and I'm getting, "Your computer is disabled. Try again in xx minutes".

I've hard restarted into recovery mode and used her Apple ID---and all of her random IDs---and nothing works. How do I get this computer back to work?

iMac, OS is ~two years old. no updates

If you're simply trying to look at the files on the iMac to determine whether there are files that need to be saved then consider placing the iMac into Target Disk Mode and connect it to another computer. The iMac will appear as an external hard disk on the other system.
