2017 macbook pro gaming controller

I have a 2017 MacBook pro and am after a compatible gaming controller. I do not own an xbox or playstation and have installed windows 10 in order to play games on Steam. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using Xbox Controller with MacBook on Steam Games I want to play Steam games using an Xbox controller on my MacBook. Pro. I have the latest MacOS update and can pair the controller to the MacBook with ease, but, when I try to install the latest driver from steam (which are required to play Steam games), the MacOS prevents me from downloading files from an unknown source even though I gave Steam access to my disk space using System Preferences. How can I download this driver?

WIRED xbox360 controller, MacMini M1 2020, Monterey--out of luck? I cannot seem to get this WIRED controller to work. I have a Mac mini (M1, 2020), MacOS Monterey 12.4. It looks like I'm out of luck here. Has anyone been able to make this combination work? How are people playing e.g. Steam games on this platform with a controller?
