Siri is not recognizing built in microphone on MacBook air

I got a MacBook Air a 3 months ago and use the microphone to ask Siri questions regularly. Siri stopped recognizing the built in mic that has been working till now. It is still selected in siri’s Settings and works with other 3rd party apps.
