I want to dispose of my old IMAC early 2008. How do I clear the HD?

1. Startup from the original disc that came with the computer and use the Disk Utility that is on the disc to erase the HD.
2. Open it up using the guide at > iMac Intel Repair - iFixit and re-purposes the HD or smash it with a hammer.
Google around in your area for an electronic re-cycler, some will actually pay you a small amount for e-waste.
