iPhone 6 plus facetime camera

Okay, so,I recently got my screen replaced because it went completely blank on me, and the person that replaced the screen informed my husband and I that we'd have to get a new ribbon for the camera and earpiece which we got from Amazon (picture for reference) and got it installed but the camera still showed a black screen. I was told it was a hardware issue, I have tried restoring and updating the phone. Anything else I can do instead of having to pay an arm and a leg that we don't have? (My husband knows how to work with iPhones and has a kit).
