dictation has stopped working on iphone6

I am running the current iOS 11.2.6, and suddenly I can no longer talk to Siri or dictate into any application (messages, email, gmail, etc.) on my iPhone 6plus. The microphone is working for voice memo and calls, and dictation is enabled in settings. What is the problem and solution?

Not sure what the problem is but if you haven't tried yet, restart your iPhone.

If you've already done that, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

This option keeps your apps and data but resets personal preferences and network settings.

Hello pdaugherty,

Thanks for using Apple Communities.
If you're unable to use dictation and siri, you can check your hardware functionality by making a call using the speaker, and recording a movie. If both fails to get the sound, you probably has a rear mic or front mic issue. If so, the first step is cleaning the iPhone. The rear mic is the tiny hole between the camera and the flashlight at the back of the iPhone. The front mic is under at the side of the receiver (where you listen when you're in a call). If after cleaning you still can't use the dictation & siri, you must visit an Apple Store or an Apple Authorised Service Provider.

With regards,
