Question: App update for phone not available through iTunes

Am I going crazy? Didn't we update iPhone apps through iTunes? Did I lose it somehow?

you provided the information on how to update the iPhone OS. That's great help but I was asking about the individual applications that you could update via the iTunes. It was very helpful to do that so I am surprised that feature was taken away (unless I am crazy and that wasn't a feature!).

App Management in iTunes was removed with version 12.7. It did exist in prior versions.

Changes in the new iTunes - Apple Support

If you recently updated iTunes that would account for the missing feature.

You can download iTunes 12.6.3 if you require access to App management through iTunes by downloading the version for Businesses.

Otherwise, all app management and updates are now done exclusively on the devices themselves.
