I am using Yosemite. 10.10.5, Mac pro, and just recently I can't see the empty trash under finder in the menu bar? Just secure empty trash shows. Do I need to reinstall the OS?
Anyone please? Pic enclosed. Thank you

In Yosemite (the last version of macOS in which this feature is available at all), "Empty Trash Securely" is a checkbox option in
Finder > Preferences > Advanced ...

So there is no need (and no point) in doing a re-Install. It seem to be a setting, not an attribute of MacOS that would be changed by re-Install.
Look under Finder menu > File.
You can click the Trash icon in the Dock then click Empty Trash.
Hi, I know but how come it doesn't show up in the Finder? Just did yesterday.
It's suppose to be under Finder. Empty Trash and then Secure Empty Trash below that. I am not moving to the trash. They are already in there.
and when I do empty trash in the icon, it only lets me do secure empty trash which takes much long to delete.
Yes, I'm working in High Sierra and it's not under the Finder menu anymore. What happens when you create a new account, is it under your Finder menu there?

A SSD (my other drive) I have using Sierra shows only empty trash not secure empty trash. I figure this is normal?

Do you have the Mac Cleaner installed? The simple one is free and that should set everything back up right. Make sure your not leaving it on when you're not using it, shut it all the way off
