Cannot open my "Photo Library" on my MacBook Air all of a sudden.

All of a sudden my "Photo Library" will not open. The photos are all still on my iPhone, and I imagine they are on my MacBook; but I get a software message" "Photos cannot find the system photo library. You can open another library and set it as the System Photo Library in Preferences."

Can anyone help please?

Photo library cannot be found When I open Photos it gives the message Photos cannot find the System Photo Library named “Photos Library” It gives me an option to pick another one and points to the one that exists under the folder Pictures. However, if I select it the thing immediately goes back to the above. This happens on my iMac and my MacBook Air. The library is obviously there. On the iPhone and iPad I can look at pictures without a problem. I did delete that library on an old iMac that I was giving away. I rarely look at photos on my OS machines.

why cant I select my photo library on my MacBook - I tried to use the preferences under photo to select my photo as the main library and it won't let me help Cannot select photos from my main photo library on my MacBook. I tried opening photos and going to preferences , but it will not let me select my photo library as the System Phot library
