How do i put my own pic as my avatar?

i wanna put my own picture as my avatar but i can't seem to do so. Does anyone know how i can do it???

To get to level three start answering questions. Users that find your replies helpful, will mark your reply as solved or helpful, and you will receive points for the reply, five points for a "helpful", ten points for a "solved"

Photos for Mac does not use Avatars at all
