When I tap a recent contact when creating a text message, my iPhone freezes?

I understand that when you tap a contact to create a text message, your iPhone freezes. I have a few suggestions for you to try. Try each of these steps in order, testing after each one.
1. First, let's have you try a simple restart of your iPhone. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
2. Next, force quit your Messages app and again restart your iPhone. How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
3. If neither of these resolved the issue, force quit Messages and this time do a force restart of your iPhone.
If the issue is still occurring after these steps, please get back with us with more info, such as which version of iPhone and iOS and any other symptoms when you try to use Messages.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t turn on or is frozenA force restart won't erase the content on your device. You can force restart your device even if the screen is black or the buttons aren't responding. Follow these steps:
- On an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
- On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
- On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
