people cannot hear me on video chat

I have an ipone 6S Plus. People cannot hear me when I use any sort of video chat such as facetime or Messenger video, even though I can hear them clearly. Microphone works when I am on speaker through an audio call. I have been to the apple page about checking microphones and done everything there but still have the same issue - Someone please help me.
