it never supported airplay in anyway only airtunes which is playing as an itunes from a computer external speaker
it is not supported by newer itunes versions for any sort of sync or stream
it is not supported in itunes store anymore
if you are asking because I wonder if you should buy one second hand, then I would advice against it
