Is this normal for AirPods

My AirPods is constantly showing that one side is charging and one side is not when both AirPods are in the charging case when I open the cover. It can be the left or the right. My bother's AirPods does not show this and usually shows as a pair and one battery indicator with the charging indicator. Is this normal?

Sporadic charging of airpods Have the older version of airpods. Charge in case for several hours. Sometimes only the right one works. Sometimes only the left. AirPods right AirPod won’t charge, every time I put both AirPods in only the left one starts to charge, I take a out the left one and leave the right one inside because maybe it will charge, but it doesn’t, I’ve tried resetting the AirPods and still no luck also the menu pretty much never pops up, I don’t understand what I am meant to do these are new I’ve had them for roughly a month and I’m already having problems someone help.
