QuickTime freezes while video recording and does not recover until force quit

Hi,

I am using QuickTime to do video recordings. But each time that I record something it get somehow hung up. So QuickTime just freezes and does not work again until I force quit the program. After restarting QuickTime it I usually reopens the recording but only about 1/4 of the recording. The rest is lost.

My usual recordings are about 1h long. I already checked storage on my computer and I have more than enough space left.

What can I do to fix this? Or can you recommend me a better tool?
