I changed my Hotmail password. I can access Hotmail fine when on the Microsoft site, it also come in fine to my iPhone. But not on my MacBook.
I changed the password in Mail but it didn't work. So I deleted the account and tried to recreate it. I get the error 'This account already exists'.

Backup your Mac.
Remove the account and then add the account.

Thanks Dominic. I've already removed the account. The problem I mention occurs when I try to add the account again.
When I had this problem with Aol, I had to wait 24 hours to add the account.
I don't know the reason behind this, but I assume this may have to do with their system setup.
Thanks, but given that my iPhone works with the Hotmail account fine I can only assume it's a problem at the MacBook end.
