Using an old macbook as a music server

I am trying to help a friend create a multi-room music system using an aged macbook as the music source. The system will have to be wireless. The macbook is running ios 10.6.8 and I cannot find any wireless speakers that will be controllable with that ios.

The macbook cannot be updated. iTunes works fine, and it connects to WiFi or Bluetooth. I am told that Bluetooth will only enable one room, but we want to set up 3 zones.

Any ideas ?

connecting wire and wireless speakers to Mac- will not play playlist on both at same time I have a Mac. I connected it to a Bose radio via wire and a jbl speaker wirelessly to be able to play inside the house and outside. It will only play on jbl or Bose not both at same time. Any suggestions??

how to Airplay music from iMac connected to internet via ethernet to remote speakers connected to Airport Express Lately I've been fussing with my Wifi and router settings, in an attempt to get better Wifi in my home. I'm guessing that I screwed up some setting somewhere... How can I play music in iTunes (12.9.5.5) from my iMac (Mojave 10.14.6), which is connected to my router with an ethernet cable for internet access, to my remote speakers which are plugged into Airport Expresses? This used to work for me. Now, when my iMac is connected to the modem via ethernet, no AirPlay speakers show as an option in iTunes. When I turn on WiFi on the iMac, the AirPlay speakers do appear in iTunes. I want the iMac to connect to the internet via ethernet, but I also want to play my iTunes music through the AirPlay speakers. I swear this used to work. I have an Airport Extreme (A1301 3rd generation) plugged into the ISP modem/router via ethernet. What went wrong?
