Can I use the HomePod like an intercom?

Is there a way to announce to have one of the HomePod is that I have in a specific room? For instance if my wife is in the bedroom and I am downstairs or even somewhere else outside, can I use Siri to communicate with the HomePod?

You can Use HomePod as a speakerphone - Apple Support, but I don't think there is currently any way to use multiple HomePods as an intercom system, although that would be a neat idea. Use Feedback - HomePod - Apple to suggest it.
