Disabled and unable to restore

Hi my daughters iPod touch has been disabled for 25 million minutes. I have just plugged it into iTunes and tried to restore it but have been unsuccessful and I have the following error pop up. Software for this iPod is currently not available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again. Our iTunes is up to date as I just downloaded it...... Help please I was wanting to fix it and download some music for her birthday tomorrow 😬
