System taking huge amount of storage in my SSD - macOS High Sierra

Can anyone help me explain why "system" in my mac os takes almost 100 gigs of my Storage in my SSD? i've tried to look on the forums and google for the answer, but none of the solutions seem to work, i tried re-indexing my harddrive, i tried repairing it with disk utility, i tried deleting localsnapshots from time machine. I tried most of the solutions out there. Is anyone having the same issues?
