Quicktime will not play .mov

I used Quicktime to record a screen video and saved that file. When I open the file with Quicktime, it will not play. The file opens. I can see the audio controls. But when I hit the play icon, it quickly changes from play, to pause, and back to play. The video is shown as being 4+ minutes long.


OS: macOS Sierra, V. 10.12.6

Quicktime: 10.4


ETA: If I have sound output set to Blackout (my Bose headset), then the behavior is as described above. If I set the sound output to internal speakers, then the video will play.
