The voice recording app does not appear on my iPhone 7. I downloaded voice memos from the App Store but would like to know its reliability for length of recording and durability for repeated play backs. Or how to find reliable app
without wasting hours recording unusable babble.

To my knowledge, there is no limit (depending on the storage space available on your device).
But it could be difficult to sync long voice memos (that originate a large file) with iTunes.
There are many 3rd parties voice recording apps that you can find on App Store.
Personally I use only the native Voice Memo app, syncing my recordings to iTunes on my computer and in 9 years I've never lost any of them.
