2017 MacBook Pro Render Speed

Hello forum. Could somebody help me wrap my head around what is happening with my new MacBook Pro.

I am editing AVCHD video in FCPX on my new 2017 machine and it is not processing as fast as my mid-2014 machine.

For example, simply transforming (scaling) the video on my 2014 model takes 5-6 seconds whereas my 2017 model doing the exact same task takes approximately 15 seconds. I want to understand why this happening. Any ideas?
