Apps from Ipad to New Iphone7

Hi everyone - I have an IOS9 ipad with a few apps on there that I’d like to transfer to my new Iphone 7.

I'm using Itunes 12.6.3 on my Windows 7 laptop.

I’ve been following guidance on using itunes etc and the sync feature. But I’m stuck. I've tried the transfer purchases feature on the ipad but the transfer of all the apps is not working as I'm possibly following the procedures incorrectly.

Please can someone let me know in very simple terms the exact steps to follow to get all my apps from my Ipad to my Iphone7 please?
