how to stop using i cloud drive

There are some documents I don't want posted on i Cloud Drive. How do I remove them without losing them?

Go to System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive/Options to turn off syncing. Copy the files from iCloud Drive to the desired folder. If desired, you can then delete the files from iCloud if syncing is turned off.
