iMac Bluetooth on/off to keyboard and mouse

MacOS High Sierrra version 10.13.3


iMac 27 3.1 GHz intelCore 5 build mid 2011


Mouse loosing contact on and off frequently, and also but slightly less the Keyboard. New Mouse and batteries make no difference. Have now bought wired mouse to keep working on computer.

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I understand that your Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard don't seem to stay connected to your iMac, despite having new batteries (and even a new mouse). I'd be happy to help!

Based on what you've described, I would recommend using Using a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, or trackpad with your Mac - Apple Support , specifically the following information:

Fix interference from other household devices

Bluetooth shares the 2.4 GHz ISM band with other household devices such as cordless telephones, wireless networks, baby monitors, and microwave ovens. If you see issues with your Bluetooth devices that you suspect might be due to frequency congestion, see AirPort and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference for further information.



I would also suggest restarting your Mac by pressing the Apple  menu > Restart.

If you still have trouble after using the above, don't hesitate to respond back.
