Need to change date range when importing scanned photos

For scanned photos I find "Adjust Date and Time" not really useful. It is meant to correct the date for photos taken with a camera, where the clock has not been set correctly. It will shift all dates by a fixed amount.

Do you know the correct dates for the scans?

If you have several photos, that should have the same date, but with a small increment of time between successive photos, so they can be sorted ascending by date and time, you could try an Apple Script. I am using this script - it works similar to the "Batch Change Date and Time of iPhoto":

See: Script: Batch Change the Date and Time to a Fixed Date

When I use this script,

  • I collect all photos that have been taken on the same day in an album,
  • drag them into the order I want,
  • change the date of the first photo to the day the photos have been taken, for example 1.1.1900,
  • then select all and run the script.

Afterwards the date of the other photos will be the same as the date of the first photos, but with an increment of one minute between successive photos.
