old I pod classic/how to connect

My old iPod classic has a firewire which will not fit in the back of the new 27 inch iMac .. Do I need to buy a thunderbolt item or what. Otherwise I have no way to charge it and use it. what item do I need to buy???

30 pin iPod connection to new 2021 iMac Hi, I am planning to purchase the new 2021 iMac M1 very soon but have just realised there might be a problem connecting my old iPod fitted with a 30 pin connection to the new machine. I Would appreciate if anybody could advise on the best way to overcome this problem, I don’t fully understand the connections ie: various USB types and lightning/thunderbolt, which connection/combination would be the best option?

At a guess you need one of these: Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter - Apple.
