gray square on macbook screen

I have had my MacBook Pro for under a week. Today a small gray rectangle, very tiny, is in the center of the screen. It shows up in front of anything I'm working on, even showing up on the desktop. I tried to click on it but it doesn't work.....HELP

System Preferences > Accessibility >Zoom

Click the Options button next to Zoom style.

If “Show preview triangle when zoomed out” is enabled, disable it by clicking in the box beside it.

Click "OK".

Show preview rectangle when zoomed out

Display a rectangle on the screen that shows the center point of the zoom. Drag the rectangle to the area where you want to zoom.
