Exported MIDI flies are saved to the folder as audio files. How do i correct this?

I understand what you mean.
It's Finder that is associating the file as an music file.
Unfortunately Apple dropped quick look and QuickTime support for MIDI a long time ago but you should be able to use the older QuickTime Player 7 version or try VLC out, to play your MIDI files.
Right-click the midi file in the Finder.
From the pop-up menu Compress it.
You'll get a .zip file, so that the email servers don't corrupt it.
But that is in fact a standard MIDI file, and others can use it as a standard MIDI file.

How are you exporting MIDI?
Thanks for your help. It plays on my computer, once I change the default app. But I'm not able to send these file to anyone. Using QT7 will allow me to send a proper MIDI file?
