can I allocate more space for document and desktop back up on icloud

I am an IT student, and like most people who do developing work, they save their work on desktop. Lots of important pdf, and documents are on desktop, or documents folder. I don't store pictures, videos to iCloud. I only need most of the space for documents, books, and codes/ apps that I write to be back up, so that I can use them at school's Mac stations or at home with my Macbook.

And I run into a problem. It seems that I can only have 5 gb of iCloud storage for Desktop and Documents. Is there anyway that I can allocate more for that ? I sign up for 200 Gb iCloud subscription

Sorry that is not a valid question - no one can fix abstract problems

1 - iCloud is not a backup, it is a syncing service to make fies available in multiple locations, it does not backup anything

2 - why can't you use more? What are you doing? What is happening? have you restarted your Mac? Yu may have to contact iCloud Support aof help, sometimes they have to reset the server

3 - for your question

The Apple link on how to upgrade storage is the right answer

Thank you, I made an appointment to see Apple and hopefully they can look into the issue. It is really weird that only 9gb out of 200 gb iCloud are used as of this morning for sync documents and desktop. I am sure that I need a lot more than that. It is weirder that finder shows a line "not enough storage" under each folders. I don't really need to sync anything else, but those two so that I can work at home , office, school etc.
