I can send and receive emails on iphone,

i can send emails on Apple Mail, but I can not receive emails on Apple Mail every other day (yes you read true- one day I can receive emails and the other day not and the other day I can receive again...so on and I do not change any settings)

I check both of my Apple Mail program in my MacBook Air as well as my iMac Retina (High Sierra).

It is the same situation. I can send emails but I can receive emails only every other day.

When it is past midnight, one day I receive, the other day I can not, the following day I can...

This goes on for a while now...

On the other hand, my iPhone can receive and send emails every day...

My email provider is a local company.

So weird. Do not know what to do!

iMac, iOS 10.1.1, 10.13.2 which is not in the list

Hey there, Jessica!

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, you're not able to receive email on your iMac, though you can send from the iMac, and don't have any issues on your iPhone or MacBook Air. I rely on email daily, so I know it's important ob e able to receive your messages as they come in. I'd be happy to help!

Based on what you've described, I would recommend starting with the following steps from If you can’t receive emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support :

If you can’t receive messages

If you’re certain you’re not receiving messages, even after clicking the Get Mail button User uploaded file in the Mail toolbar, try these suggestions.

  • Check whether Mail is retrieving a large message or a message with large attachments. For more information, see View Mail activity.

  • Check if you’re using filters in the message list that are preventing expected messages from being shown.

  • Try sorting messages in the message list by Date or another attribute, or searching for messages, to verify if you received them.

  • Check whether your account is offline or disabled (inactive).

  • Try quitting Mail, then opening it again.

  • Choose Window > Connection Doctor, then follow any instructions in the Details column. Check for problems logging in to email accounts or with the incoming mail server, or with firewall software blocking network traffic.

Check whether you’re affected by another firewall, such as software installed separately from macOS or built into an Internet sharing router, or administered by your email account provider. Contact the appropriate person for information.

  • If you’re logged in to a network using VPN, make sure that you entered your VPN password correctly.

  • Contact your email account provider to verify your user name, password, incoming mail server, and other required information; then verify the information is entered correctly in Mail account preferences.

If you're still having trouble receiving email after using the above steps, I would also recommend checking out If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac - Apple Support .

Cheers!

Hi, Jessica,

Thanks for responding back with that additional information. To confirm, you are having trouble receiving email on both your iMac and MacBook Air, and it seems to only have trouble every other day.

I still think the steps in the last response would be helpful, particularly if you migrated data from one of your computers to the other (using Migration Assistant and/or a Time Machine backup, as an example). If you've gone through the steps and still have trouble, though, I would recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly for further assistance. You can do that here: Contact Apple Support .

Have a great day.
