Finder (view options) Use as defaults

High Sierra 10.13.3

Is it possible to set a default view for all finder folders.

IE: I want to set a dark grey background, and the contents Arranged by Kind.

When I press the set as defaults button in the view options, it doesn't seem to apply this to all of my folders.

User uploaded file

I have tried applying this to my root folder and even restarting finder, but to no avail..

Ok so i think I've figured this out...

In order reset your folder settings across the entire machine you have to delete all .DS_Store files.

sudo find / -name .DS_Store -delete

then

killall Finder

You can then set the defaults in your Finder View options, and set defaults...
