iMessage

My new MacBook Air will not let me sign into FaceTime or iMessage. I have done everything I could to fix it with no luck. I have signed in and out multiple times , restarted iPhone and Mac several times, and even factory reset all devices and started clean. This is frustrating. Part of the reason I switched from Android and Windows based systems is for the supposed seemless integration between apple products.
