Unrecognized person in control of family plan


I found the discussion above and unfortunately, I am having the same problem now. I have been on the phone with apple support for an hour now with no resolution. They also have no explanation as to why this happened or how it happened. They guided me on how to remove the family sharing but we keep getting an error that it is not managed by me. So far there were $25 x 5 charges on my account. I also noticed that there were 2 computers that I am not familiar with showing up on my list devices. Tech support isn't really helpful at all and Billing department said that the gift purchases made are non-refundable.


Any of you guys found a way to fix this? how did it happen? and how to prevent it from happening again? I already changed my password and setup 2FA.

Thanks Limnos! i am still on the phone with them right now and they said it is being escalated. ETA is 24 hours. I just don't understand how it happened and they couldn't provide any explanation as well. I did not share or provide my password to anyone or to any phishing sites. Seems like hackers have a way of getting this setup without a password unless Apple's database got hacked.

Here's an update. After changing my password to something else, I saw another unrecognized device on my account. The device is an iphone 4s with iOS 9 and it has my phone number. I am using an iPhone 6 iOS 11. Not really sure what is going on here. I told the senior tech about this cause it happened while I was on the phone and they just told me to change my password again. Not really helpful.
